We are still on holiday’s and if you don’t follow me on facebook, we are posting some photos of our adventures. One thing i am missing here is night shooting. I brought my tripod and haven’t used it once as all of my European friends know right now the sun doesn’t set till around 9pm and seeing we do a hell of a lot of walking most of the day, i haven’t shot anything at night yet but here are a few from our days…
As i’m still on holiday, i’m not here to take amazing photos with lots of equipment. I’m telling a story with every image and using depth of field and composition to do it.
First image is of Krisztina on the train. Fairly basic image but i faced into her the centre, used my DOF to focus only in on her but still including parts of the train in the frame so you can still see it’s a train. Exposed nice and bright and bringing back the blacks in post.

Shot from our hotel roof. The castle is the one of the places to visit in this area as you can see in the distance but i still included the foreground roof to show some of the architecture.

The golden light around 8pm here is amazing. Long shadows and nice light. Great time for walking and a great path. I used the symmetry of this awesome path and tree line and centred Krisztina and with the lovely warm colours, should make you want to be there!

Visiting palaces in the mountains is a great experience but when you can’t climb to a high area to see it, i had to make this photo. Sitting in this park and enjoying the high mountain air is very relaxing so i thought i’d tell that story. The place is covered with trees from the front, so you can’t get a clear view but just getting a glimpse through the trees and was enough and using my DOF again your eye is drawn the building then noticing the person sitting the chair second creating that feeling like you also want to be in that chair.

So as you can see, you don’t need a heap of equipment to take great photos on holidays. I just try and capture the mood in a frame while i’m there by telling a story using what you have. And again i’m on holiday, i want to enjoy the place while i’m there, not take thousands of photos i’m never going to look again.
Thanks for reading
