Today we are heading to back to London were i met up with 3 American guys on holiday from Texas in 09′. They came to London to travel and see Europe and skate everything in their path and this kink was their starting point. I’d had been to this spot before but Micah looked at it a whole different way than anyone before him. He was jumping over the flat part and topsouling down the kink, Crazy! Most poeple were scared of the drop but not Micah, he was gapping over it..A great way to start your trip!

Photographed with my Canon 5D using 3 flashes 580EX flashes.

Some days, things just come together and you find that perfect spot and your just happy to be there.. The last day of shooting skating in San Francisco was just one of the those days. Back in 09′ my USA trip was coming to and end and my partner flew in from the UK to start our road trip. I convinced her that I still had a few more shots to get from Kevin Yee so she granted me one more afternoon and we headed across the to Oakland. The thing I love about Kevin, he is very calculating in his spot selection. He knew this spot and the trick we were shooting before we got there so we wasted no time searching streets. We spent some time bending back the wire so Kevin didn’t catch his feet on it and with a guy of his talent, he warmed up for around 10 minutes then nailed this Ally-oop fish for the photo. A very successful end to my photography in San Fran.

Photographed with trusty 5D, 3x580ex Flashes to light ramp, rider and separate him from the back ground.

Sorry i haven’t updated in a while, I have been busy working long hours..

I recently had a deal pass my way that I could’t resist. This little set-up..

An Aquatech underwater housing for my 5Dmk2 with pistol grip and a few ports. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and only really used it once due to time restrictions and weather. After a bit of testing I took out on the boat and tried to shoot some wake boarding from the tube. I found out how really really hard is to try and shoot. Framing up, changing settings and general camera operation is very difficult.

Here’s a photo os me acting like a douch on the tube before we got started. Inside the housing is my 5Dmk2 with a 16-35mm lens.

Also another huge problem is spray on the port. Keeping that clean and really hard for a nice clean shot..Anyway i went out twice before the wind picked up and i only really got 2 shot usable photos.

Paul..

One of my brother..

And one of me shot from the boat with my brother on the camera. We had some problems with the first trigger we wired up not working so Craig didn’t get on photo of me!!, I wasn’t very happy.

Anyway I’ll be experimenting with this housing more when I can, we are trying to hook a timelapse trigger inside it and also the PW set-up so we can shoot pools underwater with flash..

Every Monday I show a travel photo from some of my journeys around the world including local spots in Australia like Darwin, Townsville, Brisbane and Alice Springs to overseas like Japan, London, Budapest, California, Vienna and the Netherlands.

We are not travelling far today from where I live. We photographed Matt Forshey a few months for a UK based magazine called Scoot Nation. We needed around 7 shots for the article. This spot is right down town. A very old rollerblading spot but always a good warm up. Matt nailed this boardslide after some serious waxings of this rail.

Photographed this with my 1Dsmk3 and 15mm fisheye. I had one flash in frame to light up and whole rail from behind him, One flash over my head and far back as my main light for the subject and to spill across the ground without leaving a shadow from me. One more flash as a separation light hitting Matt on his far side to make him pop from the background and light up some of that wall in the right of frame.

This was the opening frame for Matt’s interview in the magazine.

My first photo I shot in Hollywood! We travelled there after Arizona back 09′. I was photographing Matthias Ogger for his interview in Be-mag. This photo was taken in the back streets of Hollywood at an apartment building. He hit this at high speed and cleared the steps with a nice stylish wallride. Photographed with my 5D, 2x580ex flashes..

We spend some time at Stradbroke Island over the weekend for a short birthday holiday for Krisztina. We didn’t get the best weather but it was sunny more than the weather report suggested. Anyway here’s a photo i shot of Krisztina just chillin at the back of our car before going for a surf. No flashes, just a camera and a lens capturing a great laugh. Sometimes the emotional quality of a frame outweighs the technical aspects. Photographed on the 1Dsmk3 and 24mmTS lens..

Today’s another photo from Arizona. I loved Arizona while i was there and the skaters were great to shoot and Chad Hornish was no exception. This was just one of those amazing spots they had lined up for the night. It was big and almost pitch black so i had to light it with 3 flashes. Chad was going big also so i chose this angle to show his gap over the rail and distance he as traveling off the top of the stairs and Chad did the rest. The trick was to get Chad very close to the edge of the frame while capturing the take-off and landing. I remember on the first one he went huge and went way out of my frame so after zoom out and estimating how big he was going we nailed on the second shot with a really nice stylish grab.

Every Monday I show a travel photo from some of my journeys around the world including local spots in Australia like Darwin, Townsville, Brisbane and Alice Springs to overseas like Japan, London, Budapest, California, Vienna and the Netherlands.

Ryan Williams is one of the best scooter guys in the world by far. This week a video surfaced of him landed a double forward flip 360 at Nitro Circus so i had the post a photo of him.

We are not traveling far at all today and this photo of Ryan Williams is a killer. I spent a few days shooting Ryan’s interview for a magazine and most of the those day were long. This was at the end of one of those days and he still managed to kill this spot. These banks are big and steep. We set up a table at the so he could hope onto it then over the fence and into the bank. I used my trusty 580ex flashes to light the bank, backlight Ryan to make him pop and a fill light. This went was used as a double page spread as part of his interview.
